I currently serve as a professor in the Department of Educational Psychology and Instructional Technology in the Applied Cognition and Development Program. I am also affiliated with the Cognitive Science undergraduate program, as well as Linguistics and Psychology graduate programs. My research interests include cognition and cognitive development, psycholinguistics, early reading, reading fluency, emergent literacy, and vocabulary development. My research focuses on the psycholinguistic bases of learning to read and psycholinguistic approaches to their instruction in the classroom and schools.
