Diverse Early Community Experiences are those with learners whose backgrounds differ from your own.

Examples of diversity include:

Geographic locations (e.g., rural, urban, suburban, state, country)
Cultures (e.g., Hispanic, southern, northern, rural, urban)
Gender distinctions and expectations (e.g., chores, issues of power)
Race, ethnicity, and language (e.g., history, dialect)
Schooling experiences (e.g., home, public, private, progressive, traditional, curriculum, instruction, graded, nongraded, Montessori)
Lifestyles (e.g., work, leisure, hobbies)
Personal, familial, and societal expectations (e.g., family size, marriage expectations)
Socioeconomic class distinctions and expectations (e.g., blue collar, white collar)
