Examples of diversity include:
- Geographic locations (e.g., rural, urban, suburban, state, country)
- Cultures (e.g., Hispanic, southern, northern, rural, urban)
- Gender distinctions and expectations (e.g., chores, issues of power)
- Race, ethnicity, and language (e.g., history, dialect)
- Schooling experiences (e.g., home, public, private, progressive, traditional, curriculum, instruction, graded, nongraded, Montessori)
- Lifestyles (e.g., work, leisure, hobbies)
- Personal, familial, and societal expectations (e.g., family size, marriage expectations)
- Socioeconomic class distinctions and expectations (e.g., blue collar, white collar)
