Welcome

If you are considering teaching as a career -

When new teachers walk into their classrooms for the first time, they have a new world in front of them. The more experience with children a prospective teacher has, the more in touch this person is with the realities of the classroom.

If you are a high school senior or first or second year college student, you may be ready for Early Community Experiences - part of admission requirements in some of the UGA College of Education programs and departments. Early Community Experiences are also worth the time of anyone who is thinking about becoming a teacher.

Students participating in Early Community Experiences value the opportunity to test their interest in teaching as a career and to interact with children and adolescents, families, and communities from diverse cultural settings -- learners whose backgrounds are different from their own. Through Early Community Experiences, you can learn about the needs of today's students and ultimately be better teachers.
