Transportation
Walking
Although situated on several hills, the university and downtown Athens are very walker friendly. Many of the shaded paths meandering through campus should be bright with fall colors and the downtown streets are tree-lined. Here’s a link to the interactive campus map.
Taxis
Athens is not known for its taxi service, but there are several options. Our suggestion would be to google “Taxis Athens GA” and select from the several that are offered there. The two taxi companies listed below seem to have good reviews.
United Taxi Cab (706) 549-0808
Your Cab Co (706) 546-5844
UGA Campus Transit
The university offers an extensive bus system that will take you all around campus for no charge, although you will have to share your ride with 35,000 students. Check out their website for more information.
The Bus
No kidding. That’s the official name of our public transportation system. Like all of Athens, simple and to the point. The Bus will provide transportation to most off-campus destinations. You will pay a fare to ride The Bus. More information can be found at their website.
Car Rentals
Again, googling “Car Rentals Athens GA” might be the best way to go, but here are two possibilities if you are interested in renting a car.
