Venue
The official venue for the the Seventh International Conference on the Dialogical Self is the Georgia Center for Continuing Education on the campus of the University of Georgia in Athens, GA, USA. Athens, Georgiais located in rolling hills about 75 miles east of Atlanta. Home to the University of Georgia since 1785, Athens combines the amenities of a large city with the accessibility of a small town. The State Botanical Gardens, the State Art Museum, the UGA Performing Arts Center, the Classic Center, and the Morton Theatre all contribute to the rich cultural blend that is Athens. Famous for its music scene–R.E.M., the B52s, Drive-By Truckers, and Wide Spread Panic all rose to fame here–the town features venues such as the 40 Watt Club and the Melting Point for showcasing everything from pop through country to bluegrass. The campus of the University of Georgia starts at the Arch–symbol of the university–and sprawls southward across several hills. Known both for its scholarship and its sports, UGA educates roughly 35,000 students during any academic year. Marked by brick architecture and shaded malls, the campus is especially beautiful in October when leaves begin to change, yet the days remain warm and generally sunny. The College of Education is one of the largest in the country and its faculty, housed in nine departments, garner both national and international reputations.
