Dr. Arthur M. Horne

Arthur (Andy) M. Horne has served as interim dean of the College of Education since Jan. 1, 2008. Horne, a UGA Distinguished Research Professor Emeriti, is an authority on group counseling and therapy and early intervention for at-risk children. He founded and has served as interim director of the College’s Educational Policy and Evaluation Center (EPEC) for the past two years. Horne is widely known for his scholarship on troubled families and ways to prevent and deal with bullying and aggressive behavior by males. In an academic career spanning more than 35 years, Horne has received more than $7 million in research funding including major grants from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Arthur Blank Foundation, U.S. Department of Education and National Institute of Mental Health.  He is a Fellow of UGA’s Institute for Behavioral Research and a Fellow of several divisions of the American Psychological Association and has received numerous awards for his research and teaching. He received his Ph.D. at Southern Illinois University. Horne joined the UGA faculty in 1989.
