Background
The CTL project has supported certain aspects of my development of a new course, MATH 5035/7035, Algebra for Middle School Teachers. Five aspects of the course have been especially molded by CTL principles.
Course Description
The course will deal with the use of techniques of algebra, various classes of functions (linear, quadratic, polynomial, exponential), and basic statistics to both model and solve real life problems. Emphasis will be placed upon the use of real data. The course will include components designed to strengthen the connection between content knowledge, the middle-school classroom, and the real world.
Problem Sampler
A sampler of problems on Proportional and Linear Relationships for Math 5035/7035, Algebra for Middle School Teachers.
