Communication Sciences & DisordersApplying to our Graduate ProgramsAPPLYING TO MASTER'S PROGRAMS All master's programs in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders have Fall-semester start dates only. Applications are due by January 3 (or the first working day after January 3) each year and must be complete by this date for first consideration for the following Fall. Students are encouraged to allow 2 full months for materials not under their direct control to be delivered; that is, applicants should generally request transcripts, official GRE scores, and letters of recommendation from the appropriate sources by approximately November 1. Applications that are not complete by January 3 may be considered on a space-available basis, at the Admissions Committee's discretion, after all timely applications have been considered. Late applications, or applications that are not complete by January 3, can not and will not be considered for several University assistantship and fellowship programs, because of University deadlines. Please see the Application Checklist for more details. APPLYING TO ED.S. AND PH.D. PROGRAMS Start dates and application due dates for the Ed.S. and the Ph.D. programs are individualized. Because Ed.S. and Ph.D. students are required to have faculty sponsors to apply (see Ed.S. Program information or Ph.D. program information), applicants will necessarily speak with their faculty sponsors before completing an application. Please discuss your intended start date with your faculty sponsor, who will help you determine when your application must be complete. Students need to be aware that the final application dates published in the Graduate Bulletin require the department to have made a recommendation to the Graduate School by those dates; that is, the department needs to receive materials well in advance of the final dates published by the Graduate School. Students also need to be aware that financial assistance and assistantship decisions are made beginning in February for the following academic year; Ph.D. students who wish to be considered for assistantships should generally apply in January for the following academic year. |
