MASTER OF EDUCATION / MASTER OF ARTS IN COMMUNICATION SCIENCES & DISORDERS

The Communication Sciences and Disorders Program at The University of Georgia offers several related master’s programs in speech-language pathology. The emphasis throughout all graduate programs is on the development of independent scholar-clinicians who can analyze, synthesize, evaluate, and integrate academic and clinical information. 2-year program

  • Students with a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, or the equivalent (substantial post-baccalaureate coursework or comprehensive minor may also be eligible for the 2-year program. Please contact the Ms. Leverette.
  • Curriculum
    • Four semesters of coursework and on-campus clinical practicum (Fall, Spring, Summer, and Fall semesters) with off-campus mini-internship options
    • Two full-time internship placements (Spring and Summer), each of approximately 9-10 weeks in a hospital and a public school setting

3-year program

  • Students with a bachelor’s degree in another discipline and who have little to no undergraduate coursework in communication sciences and disorders.
  • Curriculum
    • Three full years of coursework (one year of primarily undergraduate courses, followed by the four semesters of graduate courses (described under the 2-year program),
    • The same internship semester described under the 2-year program. Depending on the student’s previous coursework and experiences, the first summer (at the end of the first year) may be required or may be optional.
