The University of Georgia’s National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) presented a check for $3,677 from their annual fundraising efforts to the UGA Speech and Hearing Clinic at their banquet on April 26, 2012.
The UGA chapter of the NSSLHA traditionally holds several philanthropy events and fundraisers throughout the year to raise money for the clinic. This year, the group set their fundraising goal at $1,000. However, with the help of the officers, members, percentage nights, and the spring 2012 Walk/Run READY, SET, SPEAK! 5K race, they raised nearly three times that amount!
These funds, all donated to the UGA Speech and Hearing Clinic, go to help children who need therapy services but are not able to afford them.
The NSSLHA is an organization for undergraduate and graduate students interested in the study of human communication, both normal and disordered. The UGA chapter is one of about 300 on college and university campuses across the country.
