FY2000 Learning Technologies Grants
The Instructional Technology Advisory Committee has announced that the
deadline for submission of proposals for Learning Technologies Grants this
year is September 15, 1999.  Copies of the guidelines are available
from Marsha Cox in the Office of Research, G4 Aderhold (come by, request
by phone at 542-5257, or by e-mail, mcox@coe.uga.edu).  Guidelines also
are available on the Instructional Support and Development Website
(http://www.isd.uga.edu/), along with a listing of last year's grantees.  Last year,
the College of Education received two of the initial twelve grants funded.

The maximum award for an individual project is $75,000.  Dr. Jackson is
glad to respond to any questions regarding this program.


HOPE Teacher and HOPE Promise Applications

HOPE Teacher and HOPE Promise Scholarships applications are
now here and are available in Room G-10, Aderhold Hall.
Applications are awarded on a first-come first-served basis, so
interested candidates should apply as soon as they are eligible.

The HOPE Teacher Scholarship is for graduate students who are
fully admitted into current critical shortage fields and are legal
residents of the State.  The shortage fields for the 1999-2000
academic year are:

        Agriculture Education (Grades 7-12)

        Business Education (Grades 7-12)

        Education of Exceptional Children (Grades P-12): Behavior
                Disorders or Interrelated Special Education

        Foreign Language Education (Grades P-12):  French or
                Spanish Education

        Technology Education (Grades 7-12)

        Mathematics Educaton (Grades 7-12)

        Middle Grades Education (Grades 4-8), with concentration in
                Math, Science, or Math and Science

        Science Educaiton (Grades 7-12):  Broad Field Science,
                Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

        Trade and Industrial Education (Grades 7-12)
 

The HOPE Promise Scholarship is for students in their Junior year
(between 60-90 semster hours) who have at least a 3.60 overall
GPA and are admitted into a degree program leading to teacher
certification.
