![]() Nationally Recognized Researcher in Latino Education
Sheets, an associate professor in the College of Education at Texas Tech University, will give a talk titled, “ Diversity Pedagogy: Examining the Role of Culture in the Teaching-Learning Process, ” as part of UGA's Center for Latino Achievement and Success in Education (CLASE) Seminar Series. The talk, scheduled for 1 p.m. in Room G-23 of Aderhold Hall, is open to the public. A reception will be held 30 minutes prior to the presentation. Sheets' research focuses on diversity, developmental psychology, and teacher preparation. She is the author of the recently published book, Diversity Pedagogy , and is the 2002 recipient of the Kappa Delta Pi AERA Division K Research Award. She has taught in K-12 schools and at universities in Seattle, California, and Texas. She holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction, with a focus on bilingual and multicultural education, from the University of Washington. The CLASE Seminar Series brings to campus experts on issues related to the education of Latino/Hispanic students in the United States.
