![]() Campbell Elected President of American Psychological Association Division
Campbell will serve a three-year term as president-elect in 2005, president in 2006 and past-president in 2007. One of Campbell's responsibilities as president is to promote the interests of psychologists who are represented by state associations and provinces. She will also serve as an advocate for psychology issues in practice, education, research, political and training arenas. Campbell has been active in Division 31 for five years, first as a board member and more recently as the chair of the national mentoring program. Additionally, she has supported the profession of psychology in a number of leadership roles at the state and national levels. She was appointed to the Georgia State Board of Examiners of Psychologists in 2002 and is also a past president of the Georgia Psychological Association. As a member of the of the State Board of Examiners, Campbell is one of six state professionals selected by the governor to provide consumer protection, public health and welfare through regulation of the profession. She has served in other various high offices of the APA and has been editor of the APA's Division 29 newsletter, Psychotherapy Bulletin, since 1994. She also represents Georgia on the APA's Council of Representatives and was named an APA Fellow in 2002. Past APA honors for Campbell include a Distinguished Psychologist Award in 2000 and the 1998 Karl Heiser Award for her extensive legislative work in the advocacy of psychology. Campbell also serves the College of Education and the Athens area community as director of UGA's Center for Counseling and Personal Evaluation, which provides services to about 70 clients week including adults, families, couples, adolescents and children.
