| UGA ADULT ED PROFESSOR ONE OF A DOZEN SCHOLARS ATTENDING UNESCO
WORKSHOP ON DEMOCRACY IN KIEV, UKRAINE
Robert J. Hill, an assistant professor in adult education in the College's School of Leadership and Lifelong Learning, is attending the workshop, the first of a three-phase process to explore how various worldwide experiments in education for democracy can be shared and used as learning tools. The second phase will involve an international seminar in May 2002 in which participants will examine:
The third phase, to begin in June 2002, will consist of dissemination of the results of the project. Hill's contribution will be his focus on new social movement learning as a form of democratic participation. His research explores the role of non-government organizations in fostering education for freedom and social integration, specifically with political movements which focus on the environment, lesbian and gay issues, peace, women, civil rights and direct action.
