Thomas C. Reeves, a professor of instructional technology, hosted
a PBS teleconference on "Exemplary Models for Web-Based Learning" on Thursday,
Oct. 7. The teleconference was broadcast live from 1:30-3:30 p.m. via satellite
and Web cast from Jacksonville, Fla.
Reeves teaches program evaluation, multimedia design, and research courses at UGA's College of Education. He has developed and evaluated numerous interactive multimedia programs for both education and training. In 1995, he was selected as one of the "Top 100" people in multimedia by Multimedia Producer magazine, and in 1997, he became the editor of the Journal of Interactive Learning Research.
In addition to more than 100 presentations and workshops in the U.S., Reeves has been an invited speaker in several other countries including Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, England, Finland, Peru, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, and Taiwan. He is a past president of the Association for the Development of Computer-based Instructional Systems (ADCIS) and a former Fulbright Lecturer.
This fall, Reeves has been a keynote speaker at the NET-Working '99 Conference in Melbourne, Australia (http://www.nw99.net.au/frame-phys.html) and again at the ALT-C 99 Conference in Bristol, England (http://www.ilrt.bris.ac.uk/alt-c99/welcome.htm).
Reeves' research interests include: evaluation of instructional technology for education and training, mental models and interactive multimedia, electronic performance support systems, multimedia user interface issues, and instructional technology in developing countries. Reeves is a co-founder of the college's Learning and Performance Support Lab.
