Our Materials

Our Collection

The Curriculum Materials Library hosts a large collection of juvenile literature, classroom materials, videos, puppets, kits and other tools that are useful for pre-service teachers as well as for teacher education courses in the COE. The CML is open to the entire UGA community. Patrons from the wider Athens community are also welcome. Special library cards are available to community patrons.

Services

The CML staff is available to assist with the location and use of materials. Books and periodicals of the CML can be found in GIL, the Libraries’ online catalog. Public access computers allow access to the Libraries’ materials as well as to GALILEO databases. Printing, scanning and copying services are also available.

Instructional Services

The CML Librarian is available to provide instruction to classes and individuals in the use of Libraries’ materials, databases and RefWorks. Appointments are also available for assistance with individual research questions.

Circulation (Access Services)

Patrons must have a University ID or another form of official photographic identification to check out materials. Students must be currently enrolled and faculty and staff must be currently employed. Patrons from the community may acquire a special borrower’s card.

Reserve Materials

Materials are placed on reserve at the request of instructors who wish to make assigned readings available to all of their students. For assistance with Reserves in the CML, please contact Jason Matherly, CML Coordinator. For assistance with e-Reserves, please consult the Access Services/Reserves page.

Periodicals

We have a limited periodical collection. Titles are items which are more likely to be used in the classroom rather than research journals. All are listed in GIL. Most are retained only for five years.

Test Kits

The CML houses a small collection of test kits, primarily owned and used by Counseling and Human Development Services. Use of these titles is restricted to graduate students and faculty of CHDS and all users must have permission of the department. A list of current users is maintained and other patrons may not have use of these materials. We apologize for any inconvenience.
