Finding Materials and Use of the Online Catalog

The Center's staff is available to assist with the location and use of materials. The Librarian may provide instruction in the use of indexes, the online catalog (which also contains information about Main and Science holdings) and other special materials. The CML has two computer terminals for access to GIL (Libraries online catalog) and to GALILEO (databases available throughout the state). Books and periodicals of the CML can be found in GIL, the Libraries' online catalog.

Instructional Programs

The CML offers class sessions in library skills and tours of the CML. Instruction is designed in consultation with faculty and may be planned for a specific course. To make an appointment for these services, contact the CML/Education Librarian.

Circulation

Patrons must have a University ID or another form of official photographic identification to check out materials. Students must be currently enrolled with a UGACard; faculty and staff must be currently employed.

Reserve Materials

Materials are placed on reserve at the request of instructors who wish to make assigned readings available to all of their students. Only materials included in the CML Collection Development Policy will be placed on reserve. Most items are placed on open-shelving and available for use in the Center but with restricted circulation. Faculty may select one of the following loan periods: non-circulating, one-day, three-day, or seven-day.
