Libraries News

  • GALILEO Password for K-12 Community ONLY: Each new month brings a new password to the GALILEO K-12 Community. If you would like to be able to share with your students what teachers & students see in K-12 classrooms, this password is for you. Send me a note to get this password or join the GALILEO mailing list to automatically receive this info.

This is only for the K-12 Community, not the UGA password.

  • Got Kids? If you’ve got your children with you in the COE, stop by the CML. We’ve got plenty to read, games to play, puppets to interact with and videos & DVDs to entertain and enlighten.  We even have ready-made lists of materials by categories, for your browsing pleasure. We’re open 8:00am-8:00pm M-Th, closing at 5:00 on Fridays, closed Saturdays and open 1:00-5:00 on Sundays. For complete information on our hours, visit our hours page.

  • AERA To Publish Open-Access Peer-Reviewed Journal: This note comes from the Education, Behavioral & Social Sciences Librarians listserv: The American Educational Research Association (AERA) announced today that it will launch AERA Open, an online, peer-reviewed journal that will be freely available to all readers on the web. AERA Open is expected to start publishing articles in early 2014.

  • Unwanted Books Become Art: If you’re feeling particularly arty, here’s a, well, novel use for old books.  Please don’t practice on library books, though. We take a dim view of this sort of thing.

  • Better papers? Help your students with their research. Schedule a Library Instruction Session for you or students by contacting Nadine Cohen or Carla Wilson Buss.

  • Oh, That Keith Richards: From the New York Timescomes the shocking news that Keith Richards owes, well, rather a lot in library fines from his home library.
