Libraries News

  • How Cool Is This? Thomson Reuters just introduced RefScan for your iPhone. From their announcement: “Access bibliographic information and times cited counts directly from the world’s leading research platform, Web of Knowledge, and save them to your free EndNote Web account to retrieve anytime, anywhere – no subscriptions required.” The app is free from the AppStore. Read more about this nifty idea here.

  • Looking For a Good Read? The Libraries’ blog has a list of new fiction available in the Main Library.

  • Caldecott & Newbery Winners: The American Library Association recently announced the winners of the Caldecott & Newbery Awards.

  • Love of Learning: Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a Love of Learning Instruction Session. Invite a librarian, Nadine Cohen or Carla Wilson Buss, to your classes to make your students fall in love with learning and research. We’ll tailor a session to meet your classroom needs and let your students know there is more to research than Google & Wikipedia.

  • Tax Forms: Print copies of tax forms are heading to the CML and will be here shortly. The instruction booklets for the 1040’s haven’t been received in Government Documents nor have the Georgia forms, but the rest will be in the CML by the end of the week.

All Federal and Georgia tax forms are also available online:

  • Shopping for the State of Georgia: Due to the way our billing works, bibliographers for the Libraries need to have our one–time purchases (titles other than journals and continuing subscriptions) encumbered by the end of March. Now is the time to help me spend my money! Please send purchase suggestions to me at cbuss@uga.edu and thanks for the help.
