Libraries News

  • Still Time To Book A Library Session: Even though it may feel as if the semester is already a year old, it really isn’t. That means there is plenty of time to have a librarian come to your class and aid your students with their research. Nadine Cohen and Carla Wilson Buss are happy as little clams to visit. A note to us is all it takes.

  • Noted historian, author to deliver Peabody-Smithgall lecture: The fourth annual Peabody-Smithgall Lecture, sponsored by the University of Georgia Peabody Awards, will be presented Sept. 17 at 4 p.m. in room 102 of the Miller Learning Center. Prize-winning historian Douglas Brinkley will address “The Media and Public Life.” His numerous books include The Reagan Diaries, The Unfinished Presidency: Jimmy Carter’s Journey Beyond the White House and this year’s best-selling Cronkite.he event is free and open to the public.

  • Earliest Color Film Discovered: Ruta Abolins, Director of the Libraries’ Media & Peabody Archives, sends a link to the earliest color film that has been discovered in Bradford, UK. It is a home movie, something the Media Archives is very interested in. Click here to view it.

  • ERIC Documents: Still no good news on the ERIC Documents situation. ERIC is working to restore the documents and they expect to have that complete in late October. In the meantime, the UGA Libraries retained the microfiche copies of the EDs. These are available in the basement of the Main Library and the staff at the basement desk can assist with locating and viewing these fiche.
