MLC Exhibit: Carol Bishop and Mary Linneman of the Hargrett Rare Book and Manuscript Library have created an MLC exhibit on early football supporter Clegg Starks. The Life of Legendary Bulldog Pleas “Clegg” Starks. He Could Throw a Football 100 Yards! African American Pleas "Clegg" Starks was born around 1902. He was the son of UGA Chancellor David C. Barrow’s longtime cook, Addie B. Starks, and grew up in a house behind the Chancellor’s home (current site of the Main Library). As a youngster Clegg would often go over to Herty Field to watch the UGA baseball and football teams practice. Eight-year-old Clegg was included in the football team’s photograph where he was listed as the water boy and mascot. Over the years Clegg worked for the football team in many different capacities, such as water boy, trainer, adviser and historian. Clegg, also known for his ability to throw a football the length of a field, became a popular figure around campus and an invaluable supporter of his beloved football team.

Unexpected GALILEO Password Change: GALILEO passwords are usually changed at the beginning of each semester, and we apologize for this mid-semester change. We were alerted the other day that someone had posted the password on a public website. Posting the password on any website, Twitter feed, Facebook page, or other site that can be accessed by anyone other than current UGA students, faculty, and staff puts us in violation of the contracts for our online resources. The new password should be in effect until the start of Maymester. Visit the Libraries’Home page and the GALILEO Password link in order to acess the new password. Need help?
