Tutoring and MentoringCLASE coordinates opportunities for UGA students to tutor Athens–area Latino K–12 students. Since Fall 2004, hundreds of university students each semester provide tutoring and social and academic support at community and school venues. University participants are able to receive academic credit for their service learning via a class by CLASE Assistant Director Dr. Paul Matthews, but more importantly, they gain direct, hands–on experience with Latino students and families, helping dispel stereotypes and prepare them for serving a diverse Georgia upon graduation.
