Workforce Education: Specialist in Education (Ed.S.)

The Workforce Education program offers the following specialist degree at the UGA Griffin campus:

  • Specialist in Education (Ed.S.) – Blended Delivery Format

Mission:

This advanced degree prepares graduates to assume roles within career and technical education that blend relevant research with practice to improve teaching and learning.  The program addresses 21st century skills to:

  1. Manage careers within a global economy,
  2. Cultivate work ethic and communication skills, and
  3. Develop and extend capacity for innovation

Program Overview:

The program of study consists of a minimum of 30-semester hours degree program beyond the master’s degree.  The three major areas of course work center around career development, innovation, and work ethic.  Two courses will be taught each academic term (including summers).  Each of the courses will be taught using a hybrid delivery format with online classes (75%) and face-to-face (25%) class meeting times. Face-to-face class meetings will take place during four weekends during a given semester (typically the 3rd week in each month of the school term). The face-to-face class sessions will take place on Friday evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the UGA Griffin campus. Students may wish to find local accommodations during the face-to-face class meetings in Griffin, GA, this will be the responsibility of individual students.  The remaining class sessions will utilize the UGA online learning management system as well as other available on-line resources to maintain communication between faculty and students as learning and additional instruction is accomplished.  See the Program of Study menu for a complete listing of courses within the EdS – Blended Delivery degree program.
