Practioner Ed.D. – UGA Griffin Campus – Blended Delivery Format
Mission:
This degree offers current secondary level and technical college teachers and administrators opportunities to learn and apply advanced graduate studies directly to their classrooms and instructional programs. By creating a more seamless connection between theory and practice teachers and administrators will be able to connect what they are studying with what they are doing with their students in the classroom. The primary goal of the Ed.D. program is to better prepare professional educators to apply workable research strategies in their classrooms and schools that will have a direct connection to improved learning and teaching.
Program Overview:
The program of study consists of a minimum of 49-semester hours degree program beyond the master’s degree. This Ed.D. degree will utilize a 20-25 student cohort program format requiring two courses each term, including summers. Each of the courses will be taught using a hybrid delivery format with online classes and face-to-face class meeting times. Face-to-face class meetings will take place during four weekends during a given semester (a total of 20 face-to-face instructional hours for each class during the semester) and the remaining class sessions will utilize the UGA online learning management system as well as other available on-line resources to maintain communication between faculty and students as learning and additional instruction is accomplished. Face-to-face class sessions will take place on Friday evenings from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the UGA Griffin campus. Students may wish to find local accommodations during the face-to-face class meetings in Griffin, GA, this will be the responsibility of individual students. The remaining class sessions will utilize the UGA online learning management system as well as other available on-line resources to maintain communication between faculty and students as learning and additional instruction is accomplished.
