Professional Counseling, Specialization: School Counseling, M.Ed.

2006 Cohort

Katie Minter

Electronic Portfolio

Level:

I am a native Georgian--originally from Cairo, Georgia. This
is my second year in Athens, and I am truly loving all that
UGA and North Georgia have to offer! I graduated in 2003 with
a B.S.Ed in Sign Language Interpreting from Valdosta State
University. Since that time, I have worked as an interpreter
for the Jackson County school system in Jefferson, Georgia. I
have thoroughly enjoyed working with my Deaf and hard-of-
hearing students and deafness/Deaf culture is a passion of
mine that I will never give up; however, I feel that by
becoming a school counselor I will be able to make a further
impact on the education system and the lives of a variety of
students. I am currently a first-year school counseling
student, in the 2006 school counseling cohort. The cohort
experience has been great—the support is an invaluable
resource that I’m sure I will continue to pull from for many
years to come! Please feel free to contact me with any
questions regarding the program—I am happy to help!

Although the world is full of suffering, it is also full of
the overcoming of it.
