RLS was well represented at the Southern Regional Camp Conference, American Camping Association (ACA) September 22-24 in Atlanta with three sessions led by students and faculty: Erik Thompson, Jennifer Thompson, and Tino Johnson, "Yes, We really have 1000 campers a week," Meri Cambre and Gwynn Powell "Investigating Turbulent Financial Times at Camp," and Angela Cobbs, Paul Kilgore and Gwynn Powell "Collaborative Partnerships with Local School Systems, Public Recreation, and Universities." Graduate students, John Paul McNeal and Becky Smith received registration scholarships and Kat Shreve (B.S. '90) kshreve@girlscoutsnwga.org and Dan Mathews (M.Ed. '00) dah@camptwinlakes.org were auctioneers who helped raise over $5,000 to advance the work of ACA.

The following faculty, students, and alums were authors on papers presented at the National Recreation and Park Congress held in St Louis, MO on October 22-25: Douglas Kleiber, Gwynn Powell, Diane Samdahl, John Dattilo, Lynne Cory, Susan Dunn, Nathalie Guerin, Uttiyo Raychaudhuri, and Brent Wolfe. Some alums making presentations included: Ellen Broach, Mary Ann Devine, Susan Hutchinson, Corey Johnson, Dave Loy, Lexi McKenney, and Richard Williams.

UGA RLS students and faculty attended the Georgia Recreation and Parks Conference on November 4-6 with approximately 80 students registered and attending the conference. All faculty and many students welcomed alumni back to town at the UGA and GA Southern Reception.

Graduate students made the following presentations at the 8th Symposium on Therapeutic Recreation - Facilitation Techniques in Therapeutic Recreation on December 5th in Athens: Therapeutic Use of Visual Arts by Heather Wojtkun, Therapeutic Use of Sports by Kelly-Blaine Hoffman, Assertiveness Training by Megan Sletten, Therapeutic Use of Music by Annie Hagberg, Adventure Therapy by Katie Bitner, and Leisure Education for People with Chronic Disabilities by Nathalie Guerin. Thirty-five practitioners, educators and students from across Georgia and South Carolina attended the Symposium.

Undergraduate students, Colton Green, Tino Johnson, and Alice Johnston and graduate students, Meri Cambre, Angela Cobbs, Uttiyo Raychaudhuri, and Stephen Maynard represented RLST in a meeting with an external review team comprised of several College of Education (COE) Deans from across the country who evaluated restructuring of the UGA COE.
