Congratulations Faculty
Congratulations Faculty Gwynn Powell:
- attended the American Camping Association National Conference in San Francisco, CA February 24-28th. She served as the conference educational chair and the chair of the camp research symposium.
- delivered the keynote address "Recreation and Fun as Means to Solving Challenges in a Complex World" at the GRPA Programming Beyond the Basics workshop in Cumming, GA on March 4th.
Mike Tarrant:
- sponsored Valerie Marshall, an Anthropology student who won the Best Paper Award at the UGA CURO Symposium on April 13th for her paper "Assessing possible local community benefits from ecotourism operations in Kenya."
Doug Kleiber:
- presented "Serious and Casual Leisure in Leisure Education" at LEDU 2004 International Conference on Leisure, Tourism & Sport: Education, Integration and Innovation at Deutsche Sporthochschule in Cologne, Germany.
- is a member of the doctoral committee of Begum Ayudar Damali of the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism at Clemson University
- is chair and research director for Megan Janke in the Department of Child and Family Studies here at UGA.
John Dattilo:
- spoke to a group of professionals, students, and family members about "Facilitating Leisure for Individuals with Disabilities" at the Institute on Human Development and Disability in Athens on February 17th.
- has a leave of absence from UGA for next year so that he can work with faculty at Penn State University.
Ken Cordell:
- is principal author of "Outdoor Recreation for 21st Century America" that describes trends in Americans' participation in outdoor recreation.
