Diversity Research in Education and Multiculturalism
DREAM Research Team focuses on researching multiculturalism as it relates to education, teaching, service, and counseling psychology. Our goals are to produce multicultural research and to disseminate knowledge through presentations and publications.
The Center for Counseling and Personal Evaluation
The Center for Counseling and Personal Evaluation provides professional services for a wide range of emotional, interpersonal, and educational concerns. All of the Center’s staff are under the direct supervision of University of Georgia faculty members. The Center Director is a licensed psychologist. Services offered include families and couples counseling, individual counseling, group counseling, career counseling, and psychological evaluations.
The Goizueta Foundation Graduate Scholars
Seven outstanding graduate students at the University of Georgia have been awarded assistantships for 2008-09 through The Goizueta Foundation Graduate Scholars Fund. These recipients have excellent breadth and depth of experience in Latino educational issues and are committed to helping further CLASE’s mission at UGA and across the state.
Juvenile Counseling & Assessment Program (JCAP)
The Juvenile Counseling and Assessment Program (J.C.A.P. Center for Empowered Youth
The Center for Empowered Youth is an academic initiative aimed at combating academic disidentification by providing positive role models for participants on a consistent basis, challenging students academically, and employing culturally relevant strategies to enhance academic performance. Three programs – Empowered Youth Programs (EYP), Gentlemen on the Move (GOTM) and Young Women Scholars (YWS) – are the focus of the work of the Center.
Hwemudua Alcohol and Health Disparities Laboratory
A new two-year, $471,683 grant from the National Institute on Drug Abuse, supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, will fund counseling psychology professor Ezemenari M. Obasi’s research that examines the link between stress and the risk of drug addiction among rural African Americans.
DTAE Student Services Online Institute
The Student Services Core Competencies Institute is a program designed for personnel working in all levels in student services at institutions affiliated with the Georgia Department of Technical & Adult Education. There will be 10 weeks of on-line instruction, job-based assignments, and discussion sessions. Through extensive information sharing, all persons who work in student services will have the opportunity to participate in a peer support system on the internet.
Oconee College
Oconee College is a simulation designed to facilitate the study of a higher education institution. The simulation allows students in higher education and student affairs administration to experience some of the “realities” of academic and student affairs planning, decision making, and management.
