Confidentiality

The J.C.A.P. Team is dedicated to preserving the privacy and confidentiality of our clients. Under state laws, however, confidential information may be divulged under certain circumstances. If a J.C.A.P. counselor has reason to believe that you have been a victim of or that you have caused physical or emotional abuse to a child under the age of 18 or reason to believe that you may cause harm to yourself or others, the counselor may notify authorities or in some cases may take other action to protect you or a potential victim. Also, because the J.C.A.P. Team is a training project, all counselors are under supervision of licensed psychologists who will have access to your confidential information. Case consultation between staff member and supervisor is essential for providing optimal services to your child.

Ordinarily, we will not release any information about you to anyone without first discussing the matter with you and seeking your signed consent. In some circumstances this may not be possible. Please talk about confidentiality with your counselor or either of the program coordinators, Dr. Brian Glaser at 542-4117 or Dr. Georgia Calhoun at 542-4103, if you have any questions concerns.
