Dr. Ezemenari M. Obasi is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Psychology doctoral program at the University of Georgia. He received a B.S. in Physics at the University of California – Irvine, received his M.A. and Ph.D. in Psychology from the Counseling Psychology program at The Ohio State University, while also obtaining a minor in quantitative psychology in the area of psychometrics and data analysis. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at Harvard Medical School: McLean Hospital. Dr. Obasi has served on professional editorial boards (Journal of Black Psychology, Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology, Training and Education in Professional Psychology) and is a member of several national organizations.

Dr. Obasi has constructed an experimental laboratory that is used to explore biopsychosocial pathways concerning the intersection of alcohol use/abuse and health disparities that disproportionately impact Africans/African Americans residing in the United States. Hwemudua Alcohol and Health Disparities Laboratory (HAHDL) includes a wide range of state of the art equipment designed to gather biofeedback, biomarker, observational, survey, and experimental data in a naturalistic living room setting. Dr. Obasi is also involved in neuroscience studies using fMRI technology at the UGA Bio-Imaging Research Center (BIRC).
