Assistant Professor

Assistant Professor in the College Student Affairs Administration Program in the Counseling and Human Services Department at the University of Georgia.  Dr. Espino earned her doctorate in Higher Education at the University of Arizona in 2008.  The Ford Foundation Diversity Fellowship Program funded her dissertation research.  Prior to her graduate study, Dr. Espino served as the Coordinator of Student Programs at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas.  She earned her master’s degree in College Student Personnel at Bowling Green State University in Ohio and her bachelor’s degree in International Relations from St. Mary’s University in San Antonio.

Dr. Espino’s research interests include Latina/o educational pathways, public policy pertaining to minority-serving institutions, member experiences in culture-based fraternities and sororities, and the intersections of race, social class, and gender in higher education.  She is a member of the Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE), the American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE), the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), and the Association of Fraternity Advisors (AFA).  She also serves on the editorial board of Oracle: The Research Journal for the Association of Fraternity Advisors.
