Communication is essential for a positive relationship with your roommate.  To facilitate this process, it is important to address potential conflict areas.  It is our experience that future problems can be avoided if some high conflict areas are discussed and agreements are reached early during the relationship.

Writing and signing a contract  provides an opportunity for you to discuss with your roommate specific topics regarding living in a community setting.

We have provided you with a sample contract.  We recommend that you and your roommate each take time to fill it out.  After you have each answered the questions, you should come together to discuss you responses.  Some questions may require compromise and negotiation.  It may be necessary to add or delete topics that are specific to your situation.
