We suggest that you start looking for an apartment/house in mid February and early March, even if you are not planning to move in until August.  Although this is the ideal time to START looking, some realtors and landlords do not have openings until after April.  Looking for an apartment is time consuming and at times frustrating.  Patience is the key.  DON'T settle for something that seems "OK", this will be your home for the next year or more, so make sure you are happy.
