Rhett Puder pic

Rhett Puder is a graduate of the Counseling Psychology
Program. He is on the right hand side of the photo. His family lives in
Oconee County, and as you might guess, it is a stressful, difficult time.
When he goes over to Bagdad, Rhett is the gunner. Since doing his
internship at Wright Patterson, Rhett has been in New Mexico, Georgia, and
now Iraq. Who said that psychologists can't do it all?

Deborah Altschul, Ph.D. (UGA 1999).  Dr. Altschul is a psychologist who is a faculty member in the Department of Psychiatry’s Partnerships for Education, Research and Community Service Program at the University of New Mexico. Dr. Altschul completed an NIMH funded postdoctoral fellowship with the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors based on developing strategies to improve racial and ethnic
disparities in mental health services. Her research is largely focused on examining the connection between consumer outcomes, cultural competency and evidence-based practice. Dr. Altschul is actively involved in working with State agencies and local communities in developing sustainable infrastructures that support the improvement of cultural competency in public mental health systems.  She also maintains a private clinical and consulting practice.

tina bryant
Dr. Tina C. Bryant is a senior staff psychologist at the University of Kentucky Counseling & Testing Center in Lexington, KY. She coordinates suicide prevention programs and mental health screenings on campus in addition to working with clients in individual, group, and couples settings. Dr. Bryant co-leads the Women of Color Support Group with her colleague, Dr. Janelle McNeal, supervises doctoral practicum students, and conducts outreach presentations on various topics. Dr. Bryant lives in Lexington with her husband, mother, and new baby.

gerstein Lawrence H. Gerstein, Ph.D. Gerstein is a Professor of Psychology and Director of the Center of Peace and Conflict Studies at Ball State University. He is co- editor of the “Handbook for Social Justice in Counseling Psychology: Leadership, Vision, and Action.” Gerstein has published over 75 scholarly articles and chapters, and serves on numerous editorial boards and professional committees. His expertise is in community, peace, and family psychology, consultation, and research methodology. He is a Fellow of the Counseling Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association. Gerstein earned his doctorate in counseling and social psychology from the University of Georgia in 1983. He is President of the International Tibet Independence Movement (www.rangzen.org); an organization he co- founded with His Holiness The Dalai Lama's oldest brother, Taktser Rinpoche. Gerstein was the 2006 recipient of the Life Time Achievement Award, College of Education, University of Georgia.

Dr. Tara Weiszer
Dr. Tara Weiszer is working at UGA CAPS as Testing Coordinator,
specializing in individual and group therapy as well as ADHD testing.
She is married to Marc and has a 2 1⁄2 year old son, Jacob, and another
on the way, due in May 2007.
