Academic Programs - Recreation and Leisure Studies
Doctoral Program (Ph.D.)
Doctoral students gain teaching and publication experience to move into faculty positions at colleges and universities throughout North America. Given the interdisciplinary nature of Recreation and Leisure Studies, the program emphasizes individual faculty mentorship, and encourages students to seek courses outside of the discipline to gain valuable knowledge that relates to their area of interest.
A unique aspect of the doctoral program at the University of Georgia is its commitment to engaging students in other departments across campus. Doctoral students develop a program of study that includes coursework in other disciplines in order to expand their theoretical framework for understanding leisure.
