"These schools and school districts are rising to the challenge," said State Superintendent of Schools Kathy Cox. "They are doing a great job getting more students to meet academic goals."
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) is a measure of year-to-year student achievement on state assessments. In Georgia, students' performance on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT) is the main academic measure used to determine whether elementary schools achieve AYP. In each school, 95% of the students must participate in the CRCT in Reading, Language Arts, and Math. In addition, no more than 15% of the students in each school can miss more than 15 days of school during the year.
"I want to thank the teachers, support staff, and leaders at Chase Street Elementary for their hard work in reaching this goal," said Clarke County School District Superintendent Lewis Holloway. "Chase Street is making a difference for students."
Other Clarke County schools recognized for making Adequate Yearly Progress at least two consecutive years are: Alps Road Elementary, Barnett Shoals Elementary, Barrow Elementary, Cleveland Road Elementary, Gaines Elementary, Timothy Elementary, Whitehead Road Elementary, and Winterville Elementary.
