Intersession

Intersession is the term used to describe the vacation breaks that occur within the school year on a year-round, balanced calendar. A primary goal of Intersession is to provide creative, challenging and safe enrichment activities for children at Gaines and Chase during the. Intersession is just another way to work toward our goal of supporting students in increasing their academic achievement. Intersession is a way to provide low cost enrichment activities and offer students opportunities to learn in new ways!

The Intersessions of the Partnership Community Learning Centers initiative represent an excellent example of true partnering. Representatives from the CCSD, UGA, and the Athens-Clarke County Leisure Services work together to plan these activities. Since beginning the Intersession Camps in Fall, 2002 there have been over 500 enrollments in the program. CCSD students have benefited from on-site instruction from UGA faculty and students, interaction with community leaders who have provided special programming, participation in field trips to community sites of interest and instruction, and exploring academic subjects in creative and different ways.

Intersessions are a great experience for the children and adults both and represents one of the most unique and important features of the Partnership.
