Purpose and Description


Title:

COE Outstanding Honors Student in the College of Education Award

   
Purpose: This award is given to an outstanding Honors student in the College of Education.
   
Deadlines: All nominations should be submitted to the Office of the Associate Dean for Research by noon on February 22. Should this date fall on a weekend or holiday, nominations should be submitted the next working day.
   
Eligibility: Graduating Honors students in the College of Education are eligible.
   
Recognition: A framed certificate will be presented at the Honors Banquet. The student also receives a membership to a professional organization or a subscription to an appropriate journal in his/her field.

Application Procedures and Documentation


The Director of the Honors Program will generate a list of all Honors graduates for the given academic year in early spring. The Faculty Senate Awards Committee Secretary will forward a list of the eligible Honors graduates to the appropriate department heads. After determining the department’s nomination, the department head will submit the nomination package.

The dossier should contain:

Please submit the application as a PDF file electronically via email attachment to coersrch@uga.edu or PDF file on CD sent through campus mail to the Associate Dean for Research Office, c/o Faculty Awards Committee Secretary.

Please name the nomination file as {Last Name}, {First Name} OHSA.  For example, the nomination for John Smith for COE Outstanding Honors Student in the College of Education Award would be named as “Smith, John OHSA.”  Please label all separate attachments clearly.

 

Application Deadlines


Nomination packages, including documentation, are due in the Office of the Associate Dean for Research (G-10 Aderhold Hall) by noon on February 22 each year. Should this date fall on a weekend or holiday, nominations must be submitted by noon of the next working day.

 

Evaluation Criteria and Procedures


  • The Faculty Senate Awards Committee will be the review and selection body for this award.
  • Decisions will be based solely on the selection criteria contained in the nomination packet.
  • The Committee reserves the right not to recommend an award, if no nominations are acceptable.
